“Boss Level” is another Joe Carnahan joint that shows he’s not the kind of filmmaker to repeat himself. He’s brought his macho style to everything from horror (“The Gray”) to comedy (“Stretch”), but he never gives up on the harsh elements that make his films appealing to fans. “Boss Level” is his first attempt at science fiction, but it’s far from exhilarating or overly complex. The thrilling action and ghoulish sets we’d expect from Carnahan’s films are present and catered for, and the film doesn’t make any frills to be shameless popcorn entertainment.

“Boss Level” is one of Carnahan’s most entertaining and wacky releases to date, a visceral thriller that takes great pleasure in getting rid of its protagonist in a very violent way. Add in shootouts, sword fights, and beheadings, and there’s something for everyone. According to Carnahan in an interview with geek lair, the film draws in part from his experiences playing “silly” video games with his child, which explains the title.

Critics also appreciated the film upon its release. Rotten tomatoes gave “Boss Level” a fresh 76% rating, noting how it “fuels the increasingly crowded time loop genre with a cheerfully over-the-top sci-fi action thriller that reels in its own excess.” If you like velocity and adrenaline in your movies, you won’t regret giving “Boss Level” a chance. Add it to your Hulu Queue ASAP.

Josh Duhamel plays Sheldon Sampson, aka The Utopian, in “Jupiter’s Legacy”. The character is the leader of the Justice Union and is indeed Mark Millar’s version of Superman. And, just as the children of the Justice Union struggle to adhere to the rigid standards their parents left them, it also appears that Duhamel is struggling to let go of The Utopian – at least jokingly.

In one publish on its official Facebook page, Duhamel shared a photo of himself with hair and makeup on (long gray hair and beard) but completely shirtless – just like you do when you’re working out emotionally and wanting to remind your ex of what’s missing. Her post is accompanied by a statement which reads: “When you get dumped by @netflix and need to get back on your way … #sexysantasummer.”

There is another line from this post: “What’s up, @hulu? Based on Millar’s statement regarding “Jupiter’s Legacy,” it doesn’t seem very likely that the series will be picked up elsewhere. Whereas Duhamel himself recently voiced Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, in the animated films “Batman: The Long Halloween”, has two more films in post-production and is listed as spinning “Bandit” alongside Mel Gibson and Elisha Cuthbert, we imagine he handles the ending of “Jupiter’s Legacy” very well.

The only (and probably the only) season of “Jupiter’s Legacy” is now streaming on Netflix.

BEING the son of legendary Bollywood star Mithun Chakraborty means talented actor Mimoh Chakraborty has been surrounded by cinema from an early age.

His current film projects include the biopic Main Mulayam Singh Yadav, the thriller Rosh and upcoming romantic comedy Jogira Sara Ra Ra, who shares the limelight with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Mimoh has selected 10 films he likes, in no particular order.

Baazigar (1993): This classic is by far one of the best Bollywood movies ever made because it was a great and unpredictable thriller. The Shah Rukh Khan star was a film ahead of its time and so new to Hindi cinema when it was released. It was exciting to see the main man being the anti-hero and of course King Khan succeeded with his role on many levels.

Phool Aur Angaar (1993): My dad delivered great movies and memorable performances throughout his career. This is my favorite movie of all time from my dad. I know disco dancer (1982) is his most iconic classic, but to me he was a lion in this movie and looked like a warrior. I used to call it the terminator after watching the movie when we went to the test shows.

Brave Heart (1995): I don’t like war, but I like epic battle themed movies and especially ones based on real historical events. No one should be encouraging war, but the way Mel Gibson played and directed this film was a cinematic masterpiece. I’ve seen it countless times and this amazing background music gives you goosebumps every time.

The dead (2006): For me, personally, it’s the best gangster movie ever made and even surpasses The Godfather (1972). The representations! The scenario! Voltage! The direction! I remember watching it in the theater and not even for a second could I blink. Just awesome !

scream 2 (1997): I am a horror geek. From ghost movies to slasher movies, I’ve seen them all, but it’s Scream 2 that still gives me the shivers today. I saw this movie a hundred times growing up. The whole series is great, but Part 2 is simply the best.

The black Knight (2008): Master filmmaker Christopher Nolan has raised the bar to a
a whole new level with this breathtaking movie. I think we can all agree that this is by far the greatest superhero movie ever made. The more I say, the less it will do this masterpiece justice.

Alexander (2004) : While this epic didn’t have the success it should have when it was released, for me it’s one of the best historical films I’ve ever seen. It was a magnum opus and a masterpiece in my opinion. He deserves more credit than he maybe gets.

Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006): It is a masterpiece and a wonderful sequel to the excellent Munna Bhai MBBS (2003). It was built around a great idea, which shook me and it’s a film that still makes me cry every time I see it. It is simply spellbinding and a must see.

Save Private Ryan (1998): I don’t think a movie can be as lived or as real as Save Private Ryan. It showed the true horrors of war and the courage these brave men displayed during the darkest time in human history! Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks gave us a film that will always be remembered as one of the greatest of all time.

Daredevil Season 2 (2016): I know that doesn’t certify a “movie,” but I had to mention it because it featured The Punisher (who is my favorite superhero character of all time). Every episode of the season was amazing and had a cinematic quality. It is by far one of the best written and best presented shows on Netflix.

THOMASVILLE – The film industry has grown around Thomasville, thanks to the production services company known as Thomasville Pictures.

The company doesn’t plan to slow down anytime soon with two projects being filmed in Thomasville and two more unnamed films set to shoot later this year.

“There are two new films this year that we’re going to bring,” said Allen Cheney, executive producer of Thomasville Pictures. “We haven’t announced it yet because we can’t do it, but we have two more films planned for this year, which means we will have made at least five films in Thomasville through our company Thomasville Pictures.”

Cheney, a native of Thomasville, and his partner Ryan Smith, said they started the business with the intention of increasing production in southwest Georgia.

The company started in 2019 with its first project “The Tiger Rising”, starring Queen Latifah and Dennis Quaid. They then began filming their second “One Way” project in February with Kevin Bacon and Machine Gun Kelly.

“The Tiger Rising” is due out on June 24, according to IMDB.com.

“A few years ago Thomasville had never had any movies or anything that took advantage of the wonderful Georgia movie model,” Cheney said, “so I decided to bring some of my projects here (Thomasville ) and see how they went and they took it out and made it big. I brought a few more and everything seems to be going well.

The production company’s current projects include “Bandit” with Josh Duhamel and Mel Gibson and Supercell “with Alec Baldwin and Anne Heche.

“I think it’s (making a movie in Thomasville) good for the city because we bring a lot of money to the city when we come. We haven’t really seen outside filmmakers come in and do other things yet, it’s just our company making every movie, ”Cheney said. “We love the model. We love Thomasville, we love people and the way they embrace us.

Shelley Zorn, executive director of the Thomasville Payroll Development Authority, said she saw an indirect and direct economic boost from the rise of film productions in Thomasville.

“They (Thomasville Pictures) have now brought four films to Thomasville and the budgets for those films total $ 38 million. The production comes in and spends the money, and then the crew itself goes out and spends it. money, ”she said. “It’s a new industry for us. They don’t strain our infrastructure so I think it’s a good, clean industry spending money here and I think it’s exciting for the residents. . I haven’t heard any negative comments. ”

The increase in film production has also had an impact on the development of the workforce in Thomasville.

“I think a lot of times some of the existing jobs may not be as appealing to some students and so film is definitely a new industry that our community just got a taste of,” said Andrea Collins, executive director of the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce. “Anyone looking for this route to a career in film, the sky’s the limit. From a workforce development perspective, I think there are more opportunities in that direction.

Cheney said the movie tax credit is one of the things that attracts filmmakers to Georgia, and it’s currently at 30%, or 30 cents of every Georgia state dollar.

“It’s very lucrative,” Cheney said, “that’s why a lot of people all over the world love to come and shoot in Georgia. Most of them shoot in the Atlanta area, so we kind of broke it down. the mold when we started doing it here in Thomasville.

With production increasing in Thomasville, Cheney said other producers might want to start filming in Thomasville as well, and hopes they respect the city like his company has.

“I hope other producers want to come and do the same, but they are following our lead and also treating Thomasville the right way,” he said. “Since I’m from here it’s just important for me to do it the right way and with others not from here I hope they have the same respect we got.”

When it comes to supernatural creatures to kill in the movies, perhaps none are as terrifying as werewolves. While most ghosts are immaterial spirits, zombies are already dead and aliens are vulnerable to a combination of water and Mel Gibson, werewolves are a frightening prospect as they are fierce killing machines that contain still a human element. Which makes killing them all the more difficult.

That doesn’t mean werewolf movies have to be too serious, as this new trailer for Werewolves Within proves. The film directed by Josh Reuben tells the story of a ranger (Sam Richardson) arriving in the small town of Beaverton, only to discover that the locals are not only a little bit crazy and far too happy, but they are being terrified by werewolves too. Check it out below:

We’ve already seen a short teaser for this movie, but this trailer gives us a much bigger look at the movie and reveals a movie that certainly looks set to be laughed at. Yes, it could still fit into the horror genre and deal with a deadly killer and dark subject matter, but the overall tone of this movie is very comedic. It’s making good use of laughs which arguably could make him even better as he doesn’t try to fall for the same usual fear tactics and genre tropes, but rather seeks to have fun with himself and himself. society in general.

Since so many horror movies fail to deliver the proper scares, I’m more than happy to watch a movie trying to make myself laugh instead, especially when the cast includes the comedic talent of Milana Vayntrub, Michael Chernus, Harvey Guillén and Michaela. Watkins. Werewolves Within does not have a local release date at this time.

This may have blinded Mark Wahlberg and director Antoine Fuqua (Training day, Equalizer) to learn their sci-fi / action movie Infinite was hitting the streaming queues straight instead of a conventional theatrical run, but here we are with a June 10 release date and a first trailer.

The concept of history itself has been reinterpreted several times in recent history. This year, a partially similar hook was the basis of Joe Carnahan’s Boss level with Frank Grillo and Mel Gibson, as well as Max Barbakow’s Palm springs with Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti. A little further back, the public experienced the déjà vu with Doug Liman Edge of tomorrow with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. And of course, there’s the OG Time Loop movie: groundhog day, directed by legendary Harold Ramis and starring the inimitable Bill Murray.

Unlike all of the above, however, aside from the presence of Marky Mark, this film will center on Wahlberg’s Evan McCauley – a man who soon discovers that his hallucinations are in fact flashbacks from past lives that he has taken. reincarnated from beyond. Hunted by an organization led by Chiwetel Ejifor’s Ted, the immortal Evan McCauley (referred to in this universe as an “infinite”) must confront the mysterious and mind-blowing nature of his existence while running his life / lives.

Wahlberg and Ejifor will be joined by a cast consisting of Sophie Cookson, Jason Mantzoukas, Rupert Friend, Liz Carr, Toby Jones, Dylan O’Brien, and more. The screenplay is based on the novel by D. Eric Maikranz The reincarnationist papers and was adapted by Ian Shorr (Sparkle, Training day TV shows). Wahlberg and Fuqua were also producers

While Infinite starring Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to decorate the small screen (s) on June 10 in the US, it’s unclear where it will end up here in Australia – watch the trailer above.

Monday

The bad babysitter

Three, 1 p.m.

Daphne Zuniga, Sean Gallagher.

A woman begins to suspect that her neighbor could be responsible for the disappearance of her daughter. Not revised.

Whitney

Maori TV, 8:30 p.m.

A documentary on the late singer Whitney Houston, featuring several of her well-known songs. Much of the documentary focuses on her turbulent marriage to fellow R&B singer Bobby Brown. It’s worth watching for the insight it gives into what made Houston such a star, and the demons that haunted her. ★★★★

Constance Wu, Frank Whaley and Jennifer Lopez in Hustlers.

Provided

Constance Wu, Frank Whaley and Jennifer Lopez in Hustlers.

Scammers

Sky Premiere, 8:30 p.m.

With Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu.

The 2008 global financial crisis didn’t just affect stock brokers – down-to-earth and heart-of-gold strippers felt the pinch, too. Here, a few strippers survive by targeting the villains of the GFC – the bankers – drugging them and then stealing their credit cards. A better movie than it looks. ★★★

Katherine Heigl in 27 dresses.

provided / tips

Katherine Heigl in 27 dresses.

27 Dresses

TVNZ 2, 8:30 p.m.

With Katherine Heigel.

A sympathetic romantic comedy elevated above the mediocre only by the performance of Heigl, which makes a perfect romantic comedy. Sparkling, funny and formulaic, there are no surprises here but it is a pleasantly predictable way to spend time. ★★★

Riddick

Prime, 8:30 p.m.

With Vin Diesel, Karl Urban.

Something of a homecoming back to the roots of the original Riddick Pitch Black film, this third film in the franchise takes place five years after the events depicted in The Chronicles of Riddick, and sees our (anti) hero fight again for his survival in a hostile alien world. There isn’t much new, but the action is well done and the visuals are effective enough. ★★★

Tuesday

My baby is gone

Three, 1 p.m.

With Elisabeth Harnois, Anna Van Hooft.

A woman fakes her pregnancy and plans to steal her neighbor’s baby. Not revised

Parker Sawyers and Henry Golding in Monsoon.

Monsoon

Sky Premiere, 8:30 p.m.

With Henry Golding, Parker Sawyers.

Kit, a Vietnamese Briton carrying the ashes of his parents, returns to the country they fled as boat people after the fall of Saigon some 30 years earlier. Although it looks more like a Vietnamese version of The trip, without Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, there is a romantic thrill when Kit falls in love with a visiting American, who is the son of a veterinarian from Vietnam. Lightweight, but beautiful to look at. ★★★

Alex Pettyfer in Stormbreaker

Provided

Alex Pettyfer in Stormbreaker

Storm breaker

TVNZ Duke, 8:30 p.m.

With Alex Pettyfer, Bill Nighy.

This junior James Bond getaway is moderately entertaining, but can struggle to find an audience, as adults will find their attention adrift while younger viewers might find it difficult to identify with the impossibly handsome 14-year-old hero. . ★★

Wednesday

Sorority secrets

Three, 1 p.m.

With Brytnee Ratledge, Elisabetta Fantone.

A student’s life is in danger when she finds out that her new sisterhood is being used as a cover for an escort service. Not revised.

Dragged through concrete

Sky Premiere, 8:30 p.m.

With Mel Gibson, Vince Vaughn.

A strange title, but it suits this excessively violent and humorless crime thriller. The two veterans play the cop buddies who stray from the right path because of money problems. Their plan to rob a crooked businessman goes a bit wrong when he robs a bank and takes hostages. In the mix, there’s a male on parole (Tory Kittles) who is initially a minor player in the bank robbery but slowly takes a central role. Watchable, but based on shock rather than fear. ★★

Thursday

Killer mom

Three, 1 p.m.

With Kirby Bliss Blanton, Karen Cliche.

A penniless woman sets her sights on the money that the daughter she abandoned for adoption will inherit. Not revised.

Provided

Luke Bracey and Alexander get closer in danger Close

Danger Close

Sky Premiere, 8:30 p.m.

With Travis Fimmel, James Nicholas.

Fimmel, aka Ragnar Lothbrok of the Vikings, swaps longships and the icy North Sea for helicopters and a scorching jungle in this tale of the Battle of Long Tan in 1966 during the Vietnam War. Director Kriv Stenders details, without much historical context, the desperate struggle for the survival of an Australian unit cut off by Vietnamese troops supported by artillery and mortars. It’s a gripping and heroic story, told from an Australian perspective, although in real life the outcome of the battle is seen as undecided as to the actual damage inflicted on the Viet Cong. ★★★★

Friday

Best in class

Three, 1 p.m.

With Jacqueline Scislowski.

A student becomes a murder suspect after manipulating test results to give him a higher grade. Not revised.

2 Fast 2 Furious

Three, 7:30 p.m.

With Paul Walker, Eva Mendes.

Shameless motorheads might like this unsuccessful sequel to its racing predecessor. More Cars Than Script, this is the kind of movie that doesn’t seem to care about its obviously bad script – it has already tapped into its market anyway. Just make sure your teenager doesn’t go out and buy a Mitsubishi Evo on credit after seeing it. ★★

The hazelnut professor

Well done, 7:30 p.m.

With Eddie Murphy, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Eddie Murphy plays an obese, gentle-natured science teacher who transforms into a slim, testosterone-pumped wiseass in this remake of the slapstick comedy from 1963. ★★★

Last holidays

Maori TV 8:30 p.m.

With Queen Latifah, LL Cool J.

An uplifting and well-acted comedy starring Queen Latifah as an aspiring chef who is diagnosed with a terminal illness and leaves for her final vacation in Europe. It’s a reboot of a 1950 movie, starring Alec Guinness, and it would be harder to find two actors more opposite in style and appearance. Apparently, John Candy was the first choice, but the project was shelved after his death in 1997 to be revised almost a decade later for Queen Latifah, which takes a mediocre film to the next level. ★★

Downhill

Sky Premiere, 8:30 p.m.

With Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Will Ferrell.

A less-than-awesome remake of the 2014 film Force Majeure, about a husband and wife whose relationship is strained after the man apparently panics and tries to save himself rather than his family during an avalanche. Both stars have serious credit in their portfolios, but Ferrell is ill-chosen, as it’s hard to see past Louis-Dreyfus as Selina Myers in Veep. Better described as OK. ★★

Jon Heder in Napoleon Dynamite.

Provided

Jon Heder in Napoleon Dynamite.

Napoleon Dynamite

TVNZ Duke, 8:30 p.m.

With Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez.

This cult comedy hit is definitely an acquired taste, and its quirky sense of humor can prove extremely mystifying to some viewers. That said, the main character – played with perfect unmoved hilarity by Jon Heder – is a truly original creation and you’ll be hard pressed not to laugh out loud at some of the more outrageous comedic sets. ★★★★

SEE AGAIN: Every small town has a secret – Carp, Texas is a game.

Held every summer, the winners earn enough to start a new life elsewhere. The losers remain trapped for another year.

It’s also a competition with ghosts – last year, Jimmy and Abby were killed in competition, when a challenge involving a blindfold ride on a freeway turned horribly pear-shaped.

As the 40+ players lined up for this year’s competition have understood, the goal of a new 10-part teen drama streaming on Amazon Prime Video is the risk you take with the eponymous. . Panic.

It’s definitely not the one Heather Nill (Olivia Welch) is willing to accept. As a graduate of the local high school, she became eligible for the first time.

However, she has her own escape plan that doesn’t involve challenges like spending the night buried alive in a coffin. For years now, she has worked for the wireless company, collecting money that would allow her to pay her tuition for a college accounting course. With only $ 500 to go, Heather’s participation in the fall looks assured.

In other words, until his world collapses. First, the company tells her that it can no longer afford to keep her. “It’s okay,” she told herself, with her skills, finding more jobs should be easy. But no one in Carp is hiring.

Then comes the kicker, when Heather returns to check her stash, she discovers, to her horror, that she has practically disappeared. Her blameless mother stole her to pay for her car’s new transmission, believing her need was more immediate and vital to running the house, especially since she “ never has spare money. for herself, after making sure there was a roof over Heather’s head. “. Except for “beer, lottery tickets, cigarettes and drugs,” the teenager retaliates, as she steps out to use the transmission she paid for.

Its destination? The site for this year’s Panic opening challenge. After all, that all-time high of $ 50,000 would certainly come in handy now. Plus, Heather may have a reputation for being afraid of everything, but now she feels she has nothing to lose.

They are definitely archetypes and there is a certain Riverdale vibe about world building. It also reminded me of the great thriller Emma Roberts-Dave Franco 2016 Nerve, with its challenges, crowds and peer pressure, but with more of an old-fashioned pre-smartphone vibe. It’s both a strength and a weakness, which both gives it a refreshing feel, but also makes you wonder why they didn’t just make it into a period drama at the same time. Strange things.

Welch, who appeared in the first two episodes of Netflix’s critically-acclaimed 2019 drama Unbelievable, makes it a charismatic and endearing track, but it’s Nicholson who is the stage thief and seems to have inherited at least part of his father’s screen presence.

Panic doesn’t quite live up to its name, at least in its early days, but there’s enough exciting potential to make it worth a first leap of faith to see if you’ll get hooked.

Panic is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

We

This horror film got under my skin and stayed there.

Writer-director Jordan Peele shocked the world with his directorial debut, Get Out, and anticipation was high for his next film.

They follow a family who visit a retreat on the beach, only to be harassed by a family of look-alikes. But they soon realize that there are duplicates of everyone wreaking havoc all over the world.

As the family fights for their lives, they are rooted in a conspiracy that they struggle to understand.

Lupita Nyong’o gives an Oscar-worthy turn, and she is joined by the equally stunning Winston Duke and Elisabeth Moss.

It’s a film full of twists and turns and scares, and I absolutely love it.

4/5 stars

Army of the dead

This awesome zombie thriller follows a group of mercenaries on their way to a quarantine area for a casino heist.

As Las Vegas is completely overrun with zombies, a nuclear weapon should be dropped and the group must first withdraw the money.

Perhaps best known right now for his Justice League cut, co-writer and director Zack Snyder is making an epic film here.

With huge performances from Dave Bautista and Ella Purnell, along with ensemble tours from Ana de la Reguera, Omari Hardwick, Theo Rossi and Tig Notaro, this is an impressive cast.

It’s been 2.5 hours, which is a bit much, but otherwise it’s one hell of a genre movie.

3.5 / 5 stars

Sahara

This explorer film perfectly sums up the Clive Cussler novel on which it is based.

He follows Dirk Pitt, who sets out on an adventure to find a lost Civil War ship in the deserts of West Africa.

Matthew McConaughey is so much fun here, in a role that showcased some range and charisma while he was mainly doing romantic comedies.

He is joined by absolutely fun-loving Penelope Cruz and Steve Zahn, as well as William H. Macy, who is perfect at everything he does.

It’s a must-see action adventure and a nostalgic gem.

4/5 stars

What women Want

It’s not high art, but this adorable little romantic comedy spawned a spin-off and is still very popular 21 years since its release.

Directed by the incredible Nancy Meyers, it’s a feminist advertising executive who, after a freak accident, gains the ability to read women’s minds.

He begins to learn about the mistakes of his ways and gains a new respect for women.

Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt are fully charismatic and share great chemistry. With Marisa Tomei and Alan Alda, it’s a great little movie.

4/5 stars

Triple 9

This heist thriller is one of the most underrated little gems of the past five years.

It revolves around criminals and corrupt cops who murder a cop as they plan a massive heist.

The film has a very good cast, including Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie, Aaron Paul, Woody Harrelson, Kate Winslet, Gal Gadot and Norman Reedus.

There are a lot of surprises here and the performances are well above average for this kind of movie. It’s a high octane thriller that will have your heart pounding for the duration.

4/5 stars

Friends, family and a small community group gathered at Kailua Pier on Sunday to honor and celebrate Colin Clark’s remarkable journey.

It was supposed to be a surprise for Clark, who had planned an occasional swim to the half-mile buoy with his wife Natascha and triathlon coach David Wild, before catching a flight back to Los Angeles. Monday for brain surgery. From the look on Clark’s face, it certainly was.

The 58-year-old Kona resident was immediately draped in leis, good wishes and tears of happiness.

“It’s a bit of a surprise to me that we’re all here together,” Clark’s voice trailed off to hold back tears. “Seeing everyone here makes me so happy.”

For those unfamiliar with Clark’s story, you will find her to be truly remarkable and inspiring in every way. 18 months ago, after completing the Triptophan Turkey Day triathlon in Kailua-Kona with his wife Natascha, Clark, a longtime endurance sports enthusiast, woke up the following night and noticed an uncontrollable contraction in left hand, then suffered a seizure.

After being rushed to hospital and then evacuated to Oahu followed by a battery of medical tests, the results revealed a large tumor pressing into a crucial area of his brain. Clark immediately went to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

While the life expectancy of this form of brain cancer varies from person to person, Clark was determined to overcome obstacles early on. The 42 difficult days of surgeries, radiation therapy and chemotherapy left Clark partially paralyzed on the left side of his body. However, it was his Ironman mentality on the inside – anything is possible – that helped Clark conquer his grueling rehab program.

Slowly but surely he went from being a nail in bed, to a wheelchair, to a walker, to walking alone. He returned home to the Big Island in March 2020 to continue his rehabilitation and by July he was back to cycling and gaining more strength every day. A year after being diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, he was back in the 5K and 10K run and was considering training for his first Ironman distance.

In early March of this year, Clark contacted Wild.

“Hey, I want to do something crazy before things get worse with my brain cancer,” Wild Clark told him. “I want to take the Ironman course. We could call it Ironman for Hope and raise money for Kona Hospice and North Hawaii Hospice.

Wild couldn’t believe Clark’s positive spirit and ambition and immediately agreed to train him for an Ironman scheduled for August.

“I thought wow, he’s amazing. I have trained people for Ironman Kona before, but never anyone with his condition. There were a lot of things we had to adjust specifically for his safety, but we were going to do it.

Wild credits Clark with a remarkable positive outlook and outlook on life for dealing with his own personal stresses.

“When I look at my stress for the day, or my emotional struggles with certain things in my life, I look at her story, her resilience, her positivity, and her ability to keep going, to show herself,” Wild said. “And that’s what I tell my athletes. The main thing in this sport is just to show up. And Colin shows up every day, not just physically, but with his wit and positivity.

However, a recent MRI revealed that the tumor had grown, putting more pressure on the right side of her brain. His medical team in Los Angeles advised him to return immediately for another operation on Thursday.

“I just want to tell you a little bit about the glioblastoma, the tumor, so you understand,” Clark said. “I have a tumor on the right side of my brain, and what it does is it affects and puts pressure on my motor functions. That’s why I can’t really use my left arm right now. The good news is I’m going to LA, and they’re going to open it up and remove part of the tumor. The goal on Thursday is to operate and extract 65% of the tumor. I’ve been through this once before, so I know what it looks like. The goal is to come back soon, and above all, to come back strong and regain some of my motor functions.

Clark, a native of Scotland who moved to Kona in 2017 to serve as General Manager / Regional Vice President of Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, described the outpouring of support from the Kona community for the Scottish Warrior scene, Mel Gibson, at Braveheart.

“In Scotland we have the Braveheart movie,” he said. “And there’s a part in Braveheart where he rushes in with his sword drawn and he looks behind him and all the Scots are there with him. And that’s how I feel today. You are all here together, for me and for our community as well.

Clark’s inspirational story touched the lives of many through appearances on Good Morning America, Hawaii News Now, KHON2 News and two documentaries: Twice the Speed, Half the Fun and Ironman for Hope. To date, his Ironman for Hope Charity has raised $ 33,000 for Hospice of Kona and North Hawaii Hospice.

“Never stop,” legendary Hall of Fame swim coach Steve Borowski said of what he learned from Clark. “I learned so much from him in terms of tenacity. I have a lot of injuries and surgeries, but what he’s doing is amazing. What an example of an incredible positive attitude – anyone who meets it can feel it.

Uncle Earl Regidor, director of the Hawaiian Cultural Center at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai and who gave a Hawaiian blessing before the half-mile swim, echoed Borowski’s sentiments.

“He’s such a strong man – him and his wife,” Regidor said. “They are a perfect team who support each other the best they can. I can speak for the Four Seasons that we wish him all the best and we pray that everything goes well so that we can see him here again.

Clark and Natascha have been married for 30 years and have a daughter, Nadja. Natascha said he will always be the most incredible Braveheart.

“He is my rock – my North, my South, my East, my West,” she said. “This is my universe. He says he leans on me, but I lean on him just as much, probably more. This fight, this warrior spirit that he has – I knew he had always had it in him but I see it every day. I learn new things from him which makes me a stronger and better person. An event like today, bringing the community together is truly the most uplifting part of all of history. This is what it is about. It’s not about Colin, or me, or cancer. It’s about bringing everyone together on the same page, celebrating life, and having a positive attitude to help and support each other.

Before entering the crystal clear waters of Kaiakeakua Beach, Clark read a poem that he says keeps him going every day.

If you swim in front of me, I might not be able to keep up.

If you swim behind me, I might not be able to drive.

If you swim next to me, I can be your friend.
