Chris Hemsworth is the first Avenger to get a fourth entry in the MCU, and for good reason. Thor completely changed when Taika Waititi took over for Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and has now seen quite a bit of character growth over the past few years, leaving enough room for Thor to get another movie. Fans last saw Thor traveling with the guardians of the galaxy as the God of Thunder tried to find his purpose in the cosmos.

It looks like the movie will cast Thor as a pacifist in the first act, but that will quickly change once Thor learns of Gorr’s existence and what he does. Bale’s villain Gorr will have started his genocidal war against the MCU gods leaving Thor to watch some of his friends die. While fans will get to see many more gods before they are slain, Thor 4 also seems to promise that Gorr will be so terrifying that some fans will have nightmares after seeing the villain.

MCU insider John Campea shares on his own podcast that he got exclusive footage of Gorr and got to see the villain in front of fans. In his recent podcast, Campea shared how scary Christian Bale is and how several of his friends commented on “nightmares” after seeing Gorr for the first time:

Robert Meyer Burnett: “And you and I have seen pictures [of Gorr].

John Campea: “Oh yes, we have images of Gorr! We have it and we don’t share it with people because I got in trouble for it before. And oh my god, when you see Christian Bale as Gorr, oh my god… because what we saw was downright bizarre, it’s something straight out of a nightmare.

Erin Cummings: “Yeah, I saw the picture, I’ve had nightmares like every night since. It’s absolutely terrifying.”

Waititi has already made it clear that Gorr will be one of the most formidable villains in the MCU because he thinks Gorr is the “best villain” in the MCU. Those are high standards because Marvel has had quite a few great villains over the past few years.

Now Gorr may change how fans think of the character, but early promo art made it look like Thor 4 basically ruined Gorr’s look from the comics, which is odd since the majority of MCU characters got their comic book-accurate looks in Phase 4. Gorr seems like the exception, but hopefully the factor of Fear will be enough to keep fans away from focusing on the changes to Gorr’s appearance for his live appearance.
