Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson have a strong friendship and chemistry thanks to their working relationship

We know who Hemsworth’s favorite female actor is, and it’s not Thompson or his wife, Elsa Pataky. While neither of them stands atop this pedestal, he has shared the set with both of them multiple times.

Hemsworth and Thompson don’t just play close on-screen allies; they are also friends in real life. Their relationship didn’t develop simply by briefly crossing over the same films. The two actors have worked side by side in all of their collaborations. So their chemistry is natural, and Thompson knows things about Hemsworth that most people don’t.

The only actors Hemsworth has worked with more than Thompson are his fellow Avengers. So how many movies did Hemsworth and Thompson make together?

Hemsworth and Thompson worked together on three films: Thor: Ragnarok, Men in Black: Internationaland Thor: Love and Thunderby IMDb.

The duo’s chemistry was evident immediately in 2017 Ragnarok. Their characters – Thor and Valkyrie – hint at a romantic attraction, but the film doesn’t explore those feelings. Hemsworth and Thompson’s on-screen chemistry set the Thor franchise back on the map after mixed reaction to sentencing Thor: The Dark World in 2013.

Hemsworth and Thompson have teamed up again for 2019 MIB: International. It grossed nine figures at the worldwide box office, but it doesn’t quite compare to other films. Still, Hemsworth as Agent H and Thompson as Agent M made the movie watchable despite a few shocking moments during production.

The duo teamed up for a third time in Thor: Love and Thunder. They nearly worked on the same project between the Thor movies. Hemsworth and Thompson joined love and thunder by director Taika Waititi James and the Giant Peach with Taika and Friends television series, but they appeared on different episodes.

Both Thompson and Luke Hemsworth starred on HBO Westworld together, which means Thompson is just a Liam Hemsworth short of a Hemsworth brother trifecta on his resume.

With Waititi, Hemsworth and Thompson teaming up again, Thor: Love and Thunder has the potential to be the best (or first?) space superhero romantic comedy of all time. But it won’t be Thompson and Hemsworth in the romantic comedy portion of the film. Natalie Portman returns as Jane Foster/Mighty Thor as Hemsworth’s Thor ends his retirement to confront Christian Bale’s God Butcher Gorr, according to the film’s synopsis:

“The film finds Thor on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retreat is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the Butcher God, who seeks extinction. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg, and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magic hammer, Mjolnir, as Mighty Thor Together they embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s revenge and stop him before it’s too late.

It’s up to Thor to save himself and the universe from Christian Bale’s villainous Gorr, but the trailers show a love story woven into the cosmic action.

Thor: Love and Thunder was given a PG-13 rating and is 2 hours and 5 minutes long, per IMDb. It is said to follow Marvel tradition with (multiple) post-credits scenes, as Variety’s Clayton Davis tweeted. As MovieWeb reports, rumor has it that Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein appears as Zeus in one of the post-credit scenes.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters July 8, 2022.
