He might be a Hollywood superstar, but Hugh Jackman proved he was a Sydney boy at heart by supporting the Blues in State of Origin on Wednesday night.

The 52-year-old shared a series of photos on Instagram as he watched the soccer game from his home in New York City.

New South Wales drew their first blood of the 2021 State of Origin series against Queensland, concluding the opener 50-6 in a humiliating loss.

It was the Home State’s very first game played in Townsville, with a crowd of around 30,000 Queenslanders screaming in place to cheer on the Maroons.

But fans would be devastated after the Blues racked up their biggest winning margin in history.

The match proceeded despite a coronavirus case registered in the state earlier on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Hugh moved to New York City with his wife Deborra-Lee Furness and their children in 2008, and they currently reside in trendy West Village.

Last year Hugh revealed he was homesick for Australia after a long lockdown in New York City due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Deborra-Lee and the couple’s children were initially in Melbourne when COVID-19 was declared a pandemic in March 2019.

But they returned to the United States only four days later to keep the family together.
