Robert Downey Jr and Shane Black Reunite for Hard-core Film Noir – Film Stories
For the first time since Iron Man 3, Shane Black and Robert Downey Jr will make a new movie together: more here.
The largely adapted character of Parker is set for another cinematic resurrection, this time at the hands of Robert Downey Jr and Shane Black.
Parker, the creation of author Donald E Westlake (written under the pseudonym Richard Stark) has appeared in several cinematic incarnations over the years, most notably in John Boorman’s 1967 film, Point Blank with Lee Marvin, film by Brian Helgeland from 1999 Repaymentwith Mel Gibson, not to mention 2013 parkerfeaturing the mighty Stath.
Downey and Black also have a form in the hard black genre, having collaborated on the excellent 2005 album Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Matthew Belloni of Puck News’ What I’m Hearing newsletter is the source for this one.
It’ll be interesting to see if Black plans to direct or just write, though we’re hoping it’ll be the first. With only four films to his name (as a director) in the past 17 years, it would be great to see him add to his pretty good filmography, with 2018 The predator be the odd one out on an impressive resume that features The Nice Guys, Iron Man 3 and the above Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
We’ll tell you more about this one as we hear it.
