The Sixers’ broadcast took a wild tee shot on Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons’ departure had Philadelphia 76ers fans screaming “Freedom!” like Mel Gibson in “Braveheart”. Now even the team’s broadcast station is having fun.

NBC Sports Philadelphia took a savage jab at Simmons on Thursday after the former No. 1 overall pick was traded to the Brooklyn Nets as part of a package for James Harden. The station placed Harden’s stats this season next to Simmons’ stats…which are all zero since Simmons held out all season. The icing on the cake was the three-point percentage category. Next to Harden’s figure of 33.2% this season, Simmons’ three-point percentage section simply reads “LOL.” Take a look at the hilarity.

You can’t really fault the broadcast for being so brutal. The Simmons saga kept the franchise in limbo for almost six months. Now that it’s finally over, there must be a huge sense of relief in Philadelphia right now.

As for Simmons himself, he certainly won’t be getting Christmas cards from 76ers fans this year. As early as last September, local Philadelphia television stations were already shooting Simmons.
