Yolo County Women’s History Month Committee to Hold Event at Gibson House – Daily Democrat

The Yolo County Women’s History Month Committee will be hosting a free outdoor event to celebrate Women’s History Month.

The event, which is the 32nd event hosted by the committee, will take place on the grounds of Gibson House, located at 512 Gibson Rd. in Woodland, on March 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to a statement from the committee.

This year’s theme is “Women Who Heal, Promote Hope”. Speakers for the event are Mel Russell, historian and former Yolo County Archives Coordinator; Dr. Aimee Sisson, Yolo County Health Officer; Julia Levine, UC Davis Poet Laureate; Woodland Community College and Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.

Works by students from Woodland Community College will be on display. Additionally, Yolo County Libraries, Woodland Public Library, Yolo County Historical Collection, Yolo County Archives, University of California Department of Special Collections, Davis, and Yolo Arts will have exhibits in their institutions and during the event related to the theme this year. .

Light refreshments will be available during the event. Proceeds from the event will benefit the public library and women’s organizations in Yolo County.
